Requirements for Membership

  • CALVARY Co-op is open only to members of a Local Support Group (LSG) of the North Jersey Home School Association (NJHSA).  No nursery or classes will be open to children outside the group.
  • Applying families should have a minimum of one year of homeschooling experience.
  • The oldest home schooled child of the applying family must meet a minimum grade requirement.  This may change from year to year, due to available openings in the grade levels.
  • Applicants must be in full agreement with the co-op Membership Handbook.
  • Applicants must be in agreement with the PATH-23 Statement of Faith.  This co-op operates with a Christian worldview.  All teachers must agree to teach from a Creation-science viewpoint.
  • Applicants must visit the co-op in action, to observe and evaluate how we function and how we can serve you.
  • Families must read An Introduction to Classical Education: A Guide for Parents (Christopher Perrin) and become familiar with the three stages of learning in Classical Education, because all classes are taught using this methodology. This resource may be purchase from the Classical Academic Press website or download for free at Free download

Another helpful resource is The Well Trained Mind by Susan Wise Bauer and Jesse Bauer.

  • Families must make a commitment for one full year (30 weeks).
  • Families who are enrolled in CALVARY Co-op in the current year will have first priority to register for the next year.
Second priority will be given to members of Green Pond Bible Chapel and PATH-23 LSG members educating classically.
Third priority will be given to other NJHSA LSG members educating classically.
Fourth priority will be given to PATH-23 LSG members who do not educate classically.
After that, other families will be considered.  Because the co-op is academic and primarily geared to meet the needs of families with older children, families with older children will be considered first over those with younger children.
